A title I did not understand until someone explained it to me. Hello there fellow movie lover, its Molly with a review on the interesting behind the scenes making of Mary Poppins. Based off the recordings made at each meeting. Which were played while the credits rolled. Now this film has been receiving excellent ratings from all sorts of reviewers, but I am just not agreeing with them. I do agree that Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson were very elegant and stupendous in there performances, but I guess you could say that the story was rather drawn out in a few areas. Which one could blame the audio of 47 Ronin which was leaking through the theater walls. Very annoying really.
As funny as this film was. The main reason I was still drawn in was the long flash back sequences which were excellently done and I loved Colin Ferrell who played Travers Goff. He was spectacular! And the little girl who played "Ginty" was super adorable. Also the small development between the Drive and Mrs. Travers was rather gravitating. Quirky, but shed light on a lot more of her character.
Though the thing which bother me the most was how long the movie felt and how I though "Oh dear god is it going to end!?" when Emma Thompson began sniffling in the theater while watching the film. I honestly believed that we were going to watch a reaction video to the fully Mary Poppins movie.
Aside from my rather negative critique the movie is very good. Very funny with a side of an interesting dynamic story. Though more in a TV or DVD rental kind of way. Not exactly a big blockbuster. This may be because I just couldn't connect to it as much as some audience members could, but honestly wait to see it on TV or just rent it.
Emma Thompson definaitely deserves something for her acting in this film, it was so spot on and funny she really the reason to go see this movie.
