Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you had a movie filled year! I know that I did! So as a way to warp things up I though that I would share my top movies that I saw this year. In the order of when they came out.
Now, disclaimer I didn't see all of them and these are personal favorites so if a favorite at yours did not make it onto the list feel free to leave comment down below!
1. The Sapphires, a fun Australian film taking place during the Vietnam war. A group of singing sisters are taken to the front lines to provide entertainment for the troops. It's sweet and very funny, with a dash of drama!
2. The Great Gatsby, an excellent movie adaptation of the famed book. Over the top and bringing the roaring twenties prohibition era to life with seamless CGI!
3. Star Trek: Into Darkness, the second installment in the rebooted series. It was fun and flawless.
4. The Heat, Sandra Bullock reminds me why I lover her so much in this cop comedy.
5. Pacific Rim, Has been added to my favorite movies of all time list, even though when I first watched the trailers I was convinced it was going to be utter shit. I was proved so wrong when I actually saw the film, it was not only beautifully animated, but the story and characters were really defined and not gleaned over so they could focus on the action.
6. The Butler, A theme that I have seen this year is films focusing on black history or equal rights movements. Also, the seventies. This is a film that is just out of the ball park!
7. The Book Thief, I honestly finished the book three days before I saw the film and cried along with some random guy because of it. The acting is superb and I got very connected with the characters and how the director added so much historical context, I was so flipping happy!
8. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, I was a counting down the second until I could see this film and boy was I given gold, but that thrust into a pit of emptiness with that cliff hanger and Taruiel!!!! Now I wait until December 17 for the final installment....
