SPOLIERS for: Hick

We follow the daughter of two drunks, “luli”. After her father leaves her and her mother Luli comes to the decision to hitch hike from Nebraska out to Las Vegas. While hitch-hiking she meets Eddie, a drifter with a limp. After she insults him he kicks her out of his truck. Luli is then picked up by another drifter named Glenda who has a son she left with a close friend and is married to a rich developer named Lloyd. Who happens to be very particular of his soda brands, product placement possibly? Glenda and Luli rob a bank together and really have some serious bonding together. Luli has never really had a very close relationship with an adult before so Glenda's young audited and independent style really empowers Luli.
Until Eddie pops back up at Glenda’s husband’s residence where he persuades Luli to go into town with him. She is nearly assaulted in a bathroom stall, but Eddie saves her. But nearly kills the attacker in the process. Then Eddie takes her to a motel, where he gives her a pretty pink dress and tells her that Glenda entrusted her care to him. Luli goes out of the room for some air and ends up playing a drinking a game with a boy named clement, Eddie finds tipsy Luli and takes advantage of her. Luli then spends several days tied up in a cabin until Glenda finds her, sadly Eddie shoots her with Luli's revolver. Once Luli is free she battles with returning home to Nebraska or moving to LA.
This movie is heart warming, but has many adult themes to it so think twice about watching it with the family. Although it could be considered a coming of age film since Luli is only thirteen. But try not to pay attention to much to the side story that Luli draws, it does't really add to much to the plot except for Luli's parents.

"Hick" can be found on Netflix.
